You'll remember the NewYearButtsManaySwapFrag charity auction and how it raised £363 for charity on eBay.

One of the buyers has just left me negative feedback:
"THE BAG WAS DIRTY. CHARGED TOO MUCH FOR SHIPPING."

This was the brown canvas Billingham camera bag my father donated. Those of you who were there will remember it. It wasn't dirty in as much as there was no dirt on it, but it was certainly used and had the odd mark. In the item description, I described it as "grubby" and "lived-in". And of course, there is a photo.

In the item description, I quoted £70 for airmail shipping to the US (it was quite bulky, and parcels go on volume as much as mass). The buyer obviously could have seen this when he bid. In actual fact, it turns out I had miscalculated the shipping and it was only £50, so I sent him a £20 refund through PayPal.

So essentially I have sold an item on eBay, exactly as described, for £20 less shipping charges than described, with all the proceeds going to charity, and I no longer have a perfect 100% feedback record. I am annoyed, somewhat angry and to be honest slightly upset by this.

Bah. Very irritating. Try not to let it get you down! Sensible buyers will realise that this feedback is a one off and not representative, I think.

Can you not now leave your own feedback or rebutt this idiocy, which everyone can also see whereby purchaser is seen to be a berk?

Yes, but you don't get many characters to do this. I put "Bag was described as "grubby"! I refunded £20 excess P&P!".

Why do people complain about postage when they know exactly how much it is going to cost them BEFORE they bid????? Heck, I've had ebayers make a LOSS on postage before now for larger items. But then I'm assuming that people actually have some common sense...
