Building a new PC, part 12
Apr. 15th, 2008 03:19 pmPost I've just made on the bjorn3d.com forum:
The cheap RAM worked!
I was able to get into the BIOS with my 1gb of cheap 1.5v DDR3-1066, and once in, change the memory voltage to 1.8v, then swap to my nice 1.8v DDR3-1333, AND IT BOOTS!!!
I'm in the BIOS now!
Thanks to everyone on this forum who has lit the way. I can't help but feel that there has to be another way though. Maybe XFX should include a cheap stick of 1.5V DDR3 in the box, or maybe my wife's idea - have a jumper on the board to switch between 1.5v and say 1.9v.
In the meantime, if anyone has a similar problem, I have 1gb of 1.5v DDR3-1066 I could let you have. Drop me a line by email if you're interested.
