Building a new PC, part 10
Apr. 11th, 2008 09:28 pmHave returned copy of Vista Home Premium because I ordered Vista Ultimate.
Overclockers then returned the returned copy because I'd opened it.
"Well of course I opened it - that's how I knew it was the wrong one!"
"Sorry - nothing we can do; once the seal is opened Microsoft won't allow us to exchange it. And it will have said which version it was on the outside of the pack."
"In small print next to the bar code of the outside cardboard, which is the seal that I have broken. If it was obvious which version it was, then presumably the person who packed it at your end wouldn't have got it wrong either!"
Ultimately decided that I was too busy at work to fight about it this afternoon, and they were willing to refund the difference between Ultimate and Home Premium, which is probably worth rather more than the few little extras you get with Ultimate anyway.
Plan to start on PC construction tomorrow morning. I reckon I could build a normal PC in an evening (and I seem to remember doing just that for chainmailmaiden's Orac), but I'm anticipating this one taking rather longer.
Tonight's activity will be to tidy my desk to create an empty workspace for tomorrow's exertions.
