Is anyone familiar with his work?

I mention him because I think a number of people on my friends list would appreciate the humour.

Particularly...

...LadyofAstolat.

Take his song 'A Man Called Jayne' for example. It's the song that you would get if Wash from Firefly was a big fan of Johnny Cash and his favourite song was 'A Boy Called Sue' and he was aware of his existence outside of the fictional programme. Oh and it's a Futurama crossover. Obviously.

On the same album is 'Grease Wars', which combines two of the biggest grossing movies of the late seventies, getting the entire plot of Star Wars episode 4 and all of the songs of Grease into one eleven minute track. ("It's Obi Wan that I want, Obi's the one that I want, ooh ooh ooooh...")

Available from almost no good music shops, download services or the adverts you get on UK Gold in the afternoon, but it is available from http://www.thegreatlukeski.com/ .

There are a lot of semi pro and pro filkers, both here and in the States. Indeed, the first one I met was at the second British filkcon (and they are now, I think, somewhere around the twentieth) and that was Meg Davis, who was touring Britain with a folk song/ballad set at the time.

Remember that Star Treking is a rip off of an original filk song - and the 'artists' came damn near to being sued within an inch of their lives over it.

Ah - fond memories of singing that on the bus on a school trip to a nuclear power station in North Wales...

Maybe if Gary Glitter ever finds himself short of funds (I imagine paying for Thai child prostitutes isn't as cheap as it used to be), he could sue the producers of 'Doctorin the TARDIS'!

Couldn't do that with the original version, Star Trek Man which involves large scale actions including flinging oneself across the room going "Arrrgh."

I dunno. Some of the roads in North Wales are bad enough that you'd do that anyway, with or without an imaginary photon torpedo blast!
