My employer is transitioning to open plans in all their offices -- not quite as open as having everybody sit at the same conference table, but from regular offices and cubicles, to very short-walled cubicles and fishbowl offices. I don't believe I have heard a single positive comment about the change. I already don't feel comfortable making personal calls or whatnot from my desk, so in practice I don't lose much, but now I will get noise-canceling headphones and monitor privacy screens to boot.

If I'm there another ten years we will probably all have gone back to the layout we had before.
