Ah yes, search engine optimisation! I remember the heady days of meetings that went like:

SEO expert: Your website about ospreys gets lots of hits in the summer, but not in the winter. We can analyse your traffic and tell you why!

Room full of biologists: It's because ospreys migrate. They're in Africa all winter so the UK webcams are really dull to look at then.

You'd be amazed (or probably you wouldn't) at how many SEO and PPC experts are seemingly clueless about the subjects of the websites they have to promote.

If I'm doing PPC consultancy for something I know nothing about, I try damned hard to educate myself. Which is why I now know rather more about, for example, hair extensions than most balding middle-aged men do.
