Pictures paint a thousand lies. And facebook makes it easy for idiots to propagate them. (Thank you to parrot_knight for that one.)
The internet. Not just about porn, kittens on skateboards and idiots.
Power firm announces £460m living wage contract. Yeah, because all those highly skilled engineers and contractors working unsocial hours in and around the North Sea aren’t already earning £7.85 an hour… (I used to audit a company in this industry, and those guys get paid serious money.)
"My iPod no longer works..." Really woossy fundamentalist muslim terrorists.
Why are rubber-like blocks marked with the word 'TJIPETIR' washing up on beaches? (Thank you to neuromancer for this one.)

Date: 2014-12-03 01:30 pm (UTC)Anyway... doing the maths on that... that's 75 years divided by 30 months gives 30 increments. And Brum City Council says their population is 1,085,400 (http://www.birmingham.gov.uk/cs/Satellite?c=Page&childpagename=Planning-and-Regeneration%2FPageLayout&cid=1223096353755&pagename=BCC%2FCommon%2FWrapper%2FWrapper) sooo...
1,085,400 x 30 = 32,562,000.
32.5 million extra bods. Which is roughly what it increased in the LAST 30 years and the country didn't go to hell in a handcart then, Nor did I ever see anyone bemoaning the drop in population in the 70s/early 80s (be interested if anyone can point me to such a thing). Do any of these population scare pundits ever state what they think the optimum population for the UK is???
EDIT: was looking at wrong graph! It's much longer than the last 30 years for the 30 million increase. Note to self: don't try to talk to folk and look at graphs and type at the same time... Still interested in anyone who fretted about the 70s population drop, though!
Love the Orkney Library link.
