10 big myths about World War One debunked
12 games you've never played (and should have done) (Actually, I’ve played Beyond Good & Evil – didn’t like it – and Ico – loved it, and have pictures of it hanging in my living room.)
10 classic games you can play online now
There's feeble badly written fan vids, there's impressive machinima and then there's Death Knight Love Story. It's got Joanna Lumley, Jack Davenport and Anna Chancellor in it! AND BRIAN BLESSED! (Created by cairmen.)
The incredible story of the Sahara Memorial.

Date: 2014-02-05 10:43 am (UTC)Just couldn't get into it. It's on a list of great games that ultimately didn't win me over.
I bought an N64 just to play Ocarina of Time. Meh.
I've tried a few times to like various editions of Civilisation. Prefer Europa Universalis.
I've never liked any Peter Molyneux game, and I've tried a few over the years.
Bayonetta? Nope.
Various Streetfighter incarnations. Nice enough, but you have to put more work into learning the game than you do to pass accountancy exams. (Preferred Dead or Alive.)
Various FIFA and PES incarnations. Over-complicated control systems. Match Day on the Spectrum was more fun.
Various Madden editions. Ditto.
Okami. Last PS2 game I ever acquired. Beautiful, but meh.
Bioshock. Great setting, dull combat. (But I loved Infinite.)
Quake. Ground-breaking 3D, but again, dull combat. In gameplay terms, it wasn't an advance on Doom.

Date: 2014-02-06 03:06 pm (UTC)Seriously though... beyond good and evil... this is heresy. I know for the first three hours it looks like a jumping fighting game with cutesy animals but after that...

Date: 2014-02-06 03:09 pm (UTC)I first played Doom on a graphics workstation with a 27 inch CRT screen (in those days that took two people to lift). It was about 20,000 quids worth. Doom blew my mind. I played it in a darkened room and had to walk down a darkened corridor after. A friend who met me in the bar after thought I'd had some kind of nervous breakdown.
Nowadays it's just a bit crappy and old fashioned.
Beyond Good and Evil hasn't dated so badly but the gameplay now seems distractingly clunky. The plot, pacing and story though... amazing. It goes from cute and harmless to ultra sinister.
