Funny that Traveller has made it into UrbanDictionary, even if the person using the term is wrong!

Traveller didn't invent the word. Most likely credit for that is Karen Anderson, wife of Poul:

Of course Traveller itself is heavily influenced by that particular series. Coincidentally, I've just been reading one of them. 'Lodestar', in the bath. Good old-fashioned mercantile space opera.

I'm amused that all the 1930's aliens are more or less human sized - even the insect one!

I am firmly convinced that Cameron's apparent inability to translate the term "Magna Carta" owes more to inverse snobbery and a moment's panic at the thought that he might be seen, publicly, to know a little Latin, than anything else. But that BoJo one I suspect is real. If Eton want to carry on producing prime ministers, they might need to revise the curriculum slightly.

Beg your pardon? Knowing who scored thrice in a match nearly fifty years ago, in a sport you care very little about, is essential information these days? No wonder the country's going to the dogs ;-)

I wouldn't have even gotten Moore, never mind Hurst. Too busy trying to remember more important stuff, like the difference between the Bledington and Sherborne versions of Cuckoo's Nest.

With the what now?

1966 should be the fifth date kids in England learn in history lessons, after 1914, 1918, 1939 and 1945.

Neither would I, having even less interest in football. But Prime Ministers do generally seem to fake an interest in the most popular sports / pop groups (spot the blatant generalization based on tiny sample size!).

I'm not particular interested in slaughtering millions of Russians, but I know who Hitler was!

What if Eton wants to continue producing potential Primates of All England?

Could just be the facial hair, but if someone had shown me the picture of Rolf and asked me who he was related to, I think I would have guessed you.

I know! My soon-to-be-former colleague random said the same thing. This was something of a surprise to me as I don't think I've seen Rolf since I was about five years old.
