Warning: more politics



The Mayor of London has vetoed the councillors put forward by the Conservative and Liberal Democrat parties to serve on the body that runs London's fire service for the simple reason that they were white and male.

When I saw that news story, I had to read it a second time to make sure I had got it straight.

Apparently the mayor of London has explicit powers to racially discriminate, even against democratically elected councillors.

Of course this isn't Ken Livingstone's first racism incident.

I've seen lefty metropolitan types scoff at how stupid Americans must be to twice elect George W Bush. That's a bit rich for a city that has twice elected Ken Livingstone as mayor...

WTF!?! I mean that is like people complaining that too many [insert ethnicity here] people are being arrested. If people who are mugged say they were mugged by a [insert ethnicity here] person then the police really can't waste time looking for anyone from any other ethnicity. If the only people democratically selected to the governing body are from one ethnicity you can't then select anyone from any other ethnicity to sit on oversight teams without making the system unaccountable.

Yet another classic from Ken. This is the sort of thing that makes me very glad I didn't vote for him when I was living in London!
