Back when LJ was busier, we used to get a lot of this sort of thing. I miss that.

1. Do you like blue cheese?
I never used to. Then one day, [livejournal.com profile] bunn persuaded me to try some stilton and I've never looked back. Now I adore it. Particular favourites - stilton itself, Yorkshire Blue, Cornish Blue, Beenleigh Blue. The sharper and stronger, the better.

2. Have you ever smoked?
Never.

3. Do you own a gun?
No, but I grew up in a house with one. (My dad was a clay pigeon shooter when I was little). As a fun activity for the guests who stayed on for the day after our wedding reception, we all went clay pigeon shooting. A lot of fun. I can see why people get into shooting.

4. What is your favourite flavour?
Actually blue cheese is up there.

5. Do you get nervous before doctor visits?
No.

6. What do you think of hot dogs?
They tend to be made with awful nasty sausages and then have lashings of gunk applied. I have no objection to a quality sausage in a finger roll, but that's not quite what most people mean by a hot dog.

7. Favourite Christmas movie?
I don't think I have one.

8. What do you prefer to drink in the morning?
Tap water.

9. Do you do push-ups?
No. Although I can do push-ups rather more easily than I could do some exercises. My arms and elbows are reasonably ok, whereas my knees give me gip occasionally.

10. What’s your favourite piece of jewelry?
I don't really wear jewellery, but if I can count my watch, then that. It's a Swiss watch with a Valjoux 7750 movement that I bought on eBay for quite a bit less than it was worth.

11. Favourite hobby?
Football Manager. Then roleplaying games.

12. Do you have A.D.D.?
No.

13. What’s the one thing you hate about yourself?
I'm too well-adjusted to hate anything about myself.

14. Middle name?
William, after my grandfather on on my dad's side and my great uncle Bill on my mum's side.

15. Name three thoughts right now?
What formation should I use in our upcoming Champions League semi-final against AS Monaco? (see 11).
Has Paul Pogba signed yet? (That's a real-life MUFC thought - my Football Manager MUFC side signed him years ago.)
I should check on those eBay auctions I was bidding on.

16. Name 3 drinks you drink regularly.
Water
Strawberry milk shake (proper milk shake, not the chemical goop 'thick shake' that increasingly passes for milk shake).
Orange juice

17. Where's the question?
I'm afraid I don't understand this.

18. Current hate right now?
Don't know specifically about "right now", but more generally SJWs, the British far left (in all their unpleasant forms) and (less politically) Professor Brian 'amaaaaaaazin' Cox. The first two make me genuinely angry, as does their seeming acceptance by the establishment and media. Professor Cox is probably a perfectly nice bloke, and I'd probably get on fine with him, but there is just something about the way he looks and sounds that makes me hate him in an entirely irrational way.

19. Favourite place to be?
Probably in my own house.

20. How do you ring in the New Year?
When I was little, my dad was a technician in a fertiliser factory that ran 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. That included Christmas Day and New Year's Eve. He worked a shift rotation system. There would almost always be some youngster on his shift desperate to go out with his mates on New Years' Eve, and so my Dad always tried to swap shifts with said youngster so that he worked New Year's Eve but managed to get Christmas Day off (or at worst had to work from 10pm on the 25th). Because of this, we've never really done much for New Year's Eve in my family. Bunn seems happy to go along with this, so it's usually just the two of us at home doing nothing special.

21. Where would you like to go?
(a) Immediately? I'm happy where I am.
(b) On holiday? There's a few places we'd like to go at some point (hire a boat on a river or a canal, go to Rome), but holidays when you have difficult jobs and two small businesses aren't easy.
(c) Move to? I'd like to stay here as long as possible.

22. Name three people who will complete this?
[livejournal.com profile] bunn maybe? [livejournal.com profile] wellinghall is usually up for a meme. And how about [livejournal.com profile] louisedennis who is about the only person I've ever successfully introduced to LJ.

23. Do you own slippers?
Yes, although I don't think that they were sold as slippers, rather as very lightweight slipon shoes. I bought them a couple of weekends ago. Anyway, I wear slippers all the time around the house. Can't do without them.

24. What colour shirt are you wearing?
At the moment, I'm in my pyjamas because I had a bath earlier. The top is green with a silhouette of a stag on it. I bought the set from Edinburgh Woollen Mill. That's how trendy I am.

25. Do you like sleeping on satin sheets?
I'm not sure I ever have. High thread count cotton is what you really want, not satin. And once you've tried high thread count cotton, you never go back.

26. Can you whistle?
I can make a loud whistling noise. (I can also whistle on the breath intake.) In my head, I can whistle tunefully, but some of my ex-colleagues at JOLF would disagree.

27. Favourite colour?
Black. And Silver.

28. Would you be a pirate?
I'd rather be a Raider. (See answer to 27 above.)

29. What songs do you sing in the shower? N/A
I don't sing in the shower. And to be honest, I have baths more than I have showers.

30. Favourite girls name?
I don't think I have one.

31. Favourite boys name?
See 30 above.

32. What’s in your pocket right now?
The pockets of my dressing gown contain precisely one handkerchief and that's it.

33. Last person that made you laugh?
[livejournal.com profile] bunn

34. Best toy as a child?
Lego, particularly Space Lego which came out at the perfect moment for me to really get into it. Computers probably don't count as toys, but my Sinclair ZX Spectrum would be up there too.

35. Worst injury?
I'm lucky enough that I've never been seriously injured.

36. Where would you love to live?
The Tamar Valley in Cornwall, which is convenient really. The southern bits of the Outer Hebrides also seemed nice when I was there, but I'd be scared of moving to a Scotland that ended up leaving the UK.

37. How many TVs do you have in your house?
Three, although increasingly the secondary screens in our house are tablets and computers.

38. Who is your loudest friend?
You know, I don't think I have any loud friends. Isn't that weird?

39. How many dogs do you have?
[livejournal.com profile] bunn has two so I suppose I have two as well. They're both lurchers - Brythen and Rosie. We also provide foster accommodation for dogs from time to time. I think our record number of dogs was five.

40. Does someone trust you?
I'd hope so. For one thing, and despite the change of career, I'm still a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, so I have to be professionally trustworthy.

41. What is your favourite movie?
Depending on my mood, The Lord of the Rings, The Godfather Trilogy (yes, including III) and episodes I, III, IV, V and VI of Star Wars).

42. What’s your favourite sweet?
Does chocolate count as a sweet? Then possibly Lindt Milk. If not, then maybe sherbert lemons or rhubarb and custards.

43. What’s your favourite sports team?
The Oakland Raiders in American football.
Manchester United in real football.

44. What song do you want played at your funeral?
What does it matter? I'll be dead.
