Part five
Warning: Manc bashing
I'm in Manchester. One of my least favourite cities.
It's all so grimy. All the people seem ugly. They're all trying to be trendy without ever being stylish. I'm usually tolerant of accents, but Manc is one of my least favourites. The train was late getting in.
To be fair, I am in a really nice hotel. Even then, the surroundings resemble Basra.
Admittedly, I don't like big cities as a concept, but some of them have nice features. Bristol has a relaxed attitude and nice restaurants. London has nice architecture. Leeds has good shops. Birmingham feels like a place that's going up in the world.
But Manchester feels like it just gave up on the world when it failed to get the Olympics.
(I do like the really tall skyscraper though.)
