Worst example of people missing the point: All the people (on Twitter and in print) who thought that 'Plastic Brit' meant a sportsman who was simply born in another country. That would include people like Mo Farah and Bradley Wiggins. But there's a world of difference between someone who came to this country aged eight and two respectively and were brought up as British and someone like Olga Butkevych who is just competing under a flag of convenience. I honestly don't see Belgian cycling fans claiming that a Belgian rider won this year's Tour de France or Olympic Road Time Trial.
